Kupiškis village administration unit

The domain of village administration encircles almost three-fourth of Kupiškis town. Kupiškis Mere that was formed after Lėvuo River was dammed up in 1984 separates the territory. This pond extends 25 km towards the North from suburban Aukštupėnai and Paketuriai villages located on its opposite sides and reaches out to Rokiškis region.
Šepeta swamp is located on the South part of the village administration unit. The swamp formed of two lakes during the post-glacial period. According to the legend, the swamp turned up after a town had fallen through the earth. Rare berries called cloudberries can be found there, as well as creeping birch of tundra that cannot be found elsewhere in Lithuania. Peat from Sepeta peat bog, where settlement of workers is located, is exported to the Western Europe.
The estate palace and parsonage building constructed according to M.Šulcas, an apprentice of architect L.Stuoka-Gucevičius, design are still standing in Antašava village.
Uoginiai village is just several kilometers away from Antašava village. There is a white chapel in the village cemetery erected in 1716. Priest and poet A.Strazdas used to hold service in this chapel.
Excursions and individual curious persons often come to Uoginiai village in order to get acquainted with a unique museum founded by a simple farmer A.Petrauskas in his own farmstead. The museum has a large collection of archaeological findings, household articles, old and rear books and documents. The museum consists of a group of buildings: living house, two garners, agricultural equipment shade and tower. All these building are full of exhibits. Alleys of trees and plants brought up by the farmstead owner are very interesting as well. The Eastern outskirts of the administration unit is known for remainder of the estate with a strange name Mirabelis, which once belonged to a Frenchmen Schuazel de Gotje. Bagdoniai village is settled on the Kupiškis Mere bank. The village has a church of Russian Old Believers, which is still open for church attendees and which is a witness of fate of the two nation people.
